"Bashakshehir" couldn't fulfill their European dream by acquiring two Uzbek legionnaires

Leading players of the Uzbekistan national team, Eldor Shomurodov and Abbosbek Fayzullayev, joined the Turkish club "Istanbul Bashakshehir" during the summer transfer window.
The club's management has set a clear task for head coach Chag'dash Atan - to perform well in European competitions. For this purpose, significant funds were allocated for new transfers to strengthen the squad.
Only two Uzbek players cost the club more than ten million euros. In particular, "Bashakshehir" was forced to pay Moscow CSKA €7.5 million for Abbosbek Fayzullayev. Sources also reported that the 21-year-old attacking midfielder would receive an additional €2.5 million bonus depending on his performance.
With this amount, Fayzullayev became the most expensive acquisition in the history of "Bashakshehir." Previously, the record belonged to the transfer that brought Chengiz Under from "Altinordu" for €4.8 million.
Eldor Shomurodov has been loaned out of Roma for one year. The Turkish club has the right to fully acquire him next summer. If this happens, with a €3 million loan, Shomurodov could also become one of the biggest transfers in the club's history.
In the summer months, "Bashakshehir" was replenished with a number of other players. Onur Bulut was brought in for 325,000 euros, while Berkay Aslan cost 150,000 euros. At the same time, such players as Berat Özdemir ("Al-Ittifaq"), Devi Zelke and Luka Stančić ("Hamburg" and "Bayern Munich"), Nuno da Costa ("Kasimposha") joined the team as free agents.
Thus, the new squad under Chag'dash Atan instilled confidence by defeating Bulgaria's Cherno More and Norway's Viking in the Conference League qualifiers. But at the most crucial moment, Romania's "Universitetya Krayova" proved to be an obstacle. Having conceded five goals in two matches, Bashakshehir failed to advance to the general stage.
According to local media, after the team failed to consistently participate in the European competition, club officials realized that the problem was more related to the head coach's qualifications.
According to the influential Turkish website photospor.com, club president Göksel Gümüşdağ raised the issue of finding a new coach in the very first match against Krayova.
Nuri Shaxin is mentioned as the main candidate. According to sources, Bashakshehir's management has reached a preliminary agreement with Shahin. He was offered a two-year contract and a salary of 4 million euros for this period.
At the same time, as a backup plan, the club is considering prominent specialists in European football - Xavi, Thiago Motta, Marco Rose, and Edin Terzic.
