Czech national team member, tennis player Karolina Muchova, was forced to temporarily suspend her match in the second round of the US Open. The reason was the unexpected appearance of her ex-boyfriend in the stands, reports the New York Post.
During the match, Muchova began to cry, covered her face with a towel, and turned to the chair umpire. Later, at the press conference, the athlete explained that the hysteria during the game was caused by the appearance of her former partner “in a place where he should not have been.”
“He sat right across from my bench. Sometimes he shows up where he absolutely shouldn’t be. That scared me a little. I asked him to leave, at first he refused, but then he left. At that moment, it was very difficult for me to concentrate,” said the tennis player.
Despite this unpleasant situation and the emotional pressure, Muchova pulled herself together and won the match (7:6, 6:7, 6:4). “Yes, I’m fine, I have no complaints, everything is okay,” she added.
