“Grand Slam”: Three Uzbek Tennis Players to Compete at the 2026 US Open

The 2026 US Open is opening a new page in the history of Uzbek tennis. According to the Uzbekistan Tennis Federation, three talented tennis players will represent the country at this year’s Grand Slam tournament.

Two Uzbek athletes — Kamilla Rakhimova, ranked 78th in the WTA rankings, and Maria Timofeeva, ranked 84th — have secured direct entry into the tournament’s main draw. Polina Kudermetova, ranked 111th in the world, will begin the competition in qualifying and, if successful, could join the main-draw field.

In recent years, Denis Istomin and Oqgul Omonmurodova have represented Uzbekistan individually on the New York courts. Now, the country will field its largest-ever delegation in women’s singles.
It is worth noting that this year’s US Open has also set a record for total prize money. The purse has been increased to $108 million, while every player competing in the first round of the singles main draw will earn at least $140,000.
