After the match between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan (1:2) in the second round of the CAFA Nations Cup, the head coach of the nominal hosts, Rovshan Meredov, answered journalists' questions at a press conference.
According to him, the match was dynamic and intense, and both goals and red cards were not overlooked.
- The game was quite interesting. It wasn't easy for both sides. "Most importantly, my players played confidently on the field and didn't panic in front of the opponent," said Rovshan Meredov.
The expert also revealed which aspect of the Uzbekistan national team caused the most difficulties:
- We studied the opponent's game in advance, it wasn't difficult to guess their style. Honestly, we didn't struggle much. We made only a small mistake in the first goal. The opponent didn't forget to punish one of our mistakes. We prepared our own tactics, knowing how Uzbekistan would attack," the coach emphasized.
Meredov also commented on Didar Durdiyev. He noted that the team's game changed significantly with his entry onto the pitch:
"We have three strikers, and each of them is key to us. We do not use the concepts of "first" or "second." Our squad for today was selected based on a tactical plan. It's important to remember that we've only played our third match under the new coaching staff. The team is in the process of renewal. Our main goal is to qualify for the Asian Cup 2027," Rovshan Meredov concluded.
