After the clash between Oman and Kyrgyzstan in the second round of the CAFA Nations Cup, the coaches of the two teams exchanged views. First, Kyrgyzstan's head coach, Urmat Abdukaimov, shared his thoughts.
"First of all, I want to thank the guys for giving everything on the field. I can say that we played well today. But our victory was "stolen" - this, of course, needs to be reconsidered. It's painful to score three goals and lose 1:2. We accepted a "difficult" defeat because our goal was high. However, there is another game ahead - against Uzbekistan. We will do everything possible to score more goals," Abdukaimov said.
What was missing in the last few minutes?
The coach explained the situation: "It was a difficult time. We gave the field the opportunity to those who had less experience on the international stage - therefore, there was not enough experience to cope with the great gamework. Moreover, he had to make two unplanned changes in central defense. It won't be easy against a tough opponent. We're conceding a lot of goals from set pieces - this requires serious analysis."
About Kojo's uncounted goal?
"Now let's look at the videos in detail. There are questions, of course. However, even if you look from the bench, you might draw unnecessary conclusions, especially if decisions are made against you," said the coach.
How much has Kyrgyzstan grown after the draw at the Asian Cup?
"Participating in the third stage of the World Cup qualifiers gave us a lot of experience. We achieved worthy results - no one expected such a level in the year of debut. I can say that we have become a stronger team. In this tournament, the squad is not complete: experienced guys haven't arrived, so we are giving practice to the young ones," Abdukaimov added.
In short, the coach noted the team's character, identified the analysis of controversial episodes and correction of shortcomings in defense as the first task. Now all attention is focused on the match against Uzbekistan: the desire to turn the result in their favor with more goals, higher density, and rational rotation.
