Aryna Sabalenka became the first tennis player after Serena Williams to defend the singles title at the US Open, reports Opta Ace.
The Belarusian athlete defeated American Amanda Anisimova in the final with a score of 6:3, 7:6, finishing the match in her favor after 1 hour and 35 minutes.
This victory was Sabalenka’s 21st WTA trophy in her career. In addition, she won her fourth Grand Slam title: twice at the US Open and twice at the Australian Open. This year, the Belarusian tennis player ends the season with four titles.
“I want to thank my team. This year was not easy for me. I know that after some lost finals I was too hard on you. Nevertheless, thank you for being by my side. I love you like my family. And special thanks to my boyfriend who always supports me,” — said Sabalenka.
