The 2025 World Boxing Championship for adults is in full swing in Liverpool, England. On the evening of September 8, seven of our boxers defending the honor of Uzbekistan entered the ring and all ended their fights with victories.
The first fight of the day took place in the -54 kg weight category. Nigina Uktamova secured a convincing 5-0 victory over Hungarian Anna Lakotar, securing her place in the quarterfinals. Now he will compete for the semi-finals on September 10.
Navbahor Hamidova (-65 kg), who followed Oktamova in the ring, defeated Belgian Oshin Deriyev with a score of 4:1. Thus, another female boxer reached the quarterfinals.
Shavkatjon Boltayev also defeated Spaniard Bernad Martinez with a score of 3:0. Later, Turabek Khabibullayev (-90 kg) defeated Greek athlete Vagkan Nanitzanian with a score of 5:0 and advanced to the next stage. He will now compete against Sagindik Togambay from Kazakhstan.
Olympic champion Abdumalik Khalokov (-60 kg) dominated the fight against Italian Giuseppe Canonico and advanced to the final.
Also, in the -75 kg weight category, Fazliddin Erkinboyev defeated Sultan Osmanli from Turkey with a score of 5:0 and reached the quarterfinals.
In one of the final fights of the evening, Jakhongir Zakirov (+90 kg) showed his superiority over his opponent by entering the ring against Nikita Putilov from Germany.
Thus, all seven boxers who defended the honor of our country in the Monday competitions delighted our fans with 7 victories.
As a reminder, our representatives only achieved victories in the matches on September 7th.
For information, 554 boxers from 68 countries are participating in the World Boxing Championships, organized for the first time under the auspices of World Boxing. Of these, 329 are men and 225 are women. The tournament started on September 4 and will end on September 14.
