The match between Besiktas and Istanbul Basaksehir, which was part of the 5th round of the Turkish Championship, was as expected. This match was remembered by fans not only for its tense situations, but also for Eldor Shomurodov's first goal.
The striker of the Uzbek national team entered the field in the starting lineup and opened the scoring in the 71st minute. This was Shomurodov's debut goal for Basaksehir. However, in the last minutes, the hosts increased the intensity and scored twice, and the match ended 2:1 in favor of Besiktas.
After the match, Eldor shared his thoughts:
“To be honest, we were close to winning. We played well throughout the match. But in the last minutes, we lost focus and conceded twice. I couldn’t score for a while, but now I feel much better,” said Shomurodov.
The forward also spoke about the new coach, who is expected to join the team soon:
“The team is not going through good times at the moment. However, I am confident that with the arrival of the new head coach, we will improve the situation. Under his leadership, we will become even stronger,” added Eldor.
It is worth noting that Istanbul Basaksehir recently officially announced that they have signed a contract with Turkish coach Nuri Sahin. He is expected to start working for the team in the coming days.
Thus, Shomurodov's first goal in Turkey gave hope to the fans, but Basaksehir lost the victory. Now all attention will be focused on the games under the new coach.
