In the 21st round of the Super League, Pakhtakor hosted Neftchi at home and won a dramatic match with a score of 2:1. Following the match, the hosts' head coach, Kamoliddin Tojiyev, shared his thoughts at a press conference.
Tojiyev first spoke about the team's preparation for the match:
- We started the game well. After the suspension, we were forced to switch to defense, but we still managed to score a goal. In the second half, we focused more on defense and switched to five defenders. Thanks to the guys, they gave their all on the field.
According to the head coach, the main reason for today's victory is the team's striving for a goal:
"The guys understand how important every point is." We lost a lot of points in the first round, now we must not make mistakes. In today's match, we played confidently in defense and left almost no chance for Neftchi.
Tojiyev also spoke about the condition of the players who returned from the national team:
- 15 of our football players played for various national teams. Our youth are in the U23 qualifiers, and two of our players have been called up to the Iraqi national team. There was concern about injuries, but the guys joined the ranks with full force. Fatigue wasn't felt, because when they play for Pakhtakor, they always give everything they have.
Speaking about the team's attacking style, Tojiev noted:
- We only think about victory. We don't aim to score 5-6 goals. In some matches, we took advantage of the opportunities and won by a large margin. But the main goal is only victory.
Despite the fact that the difference with "Nasaf" is 7 points, Tojiyev promised to fight for the championship until the end:
- There are still 9 rounds ahead. We will enter the field for victory in every match. We will fight to the end for the championship.
He also addressed the stadium issue, stating that the team could return to its home arena in another month.
As for Diyor Kholmatov, he said:
"We're giving him enough playing time. We don't see any serious problems in training either. He needs to play more and gain experience.
Thus, despite the difficulties, Pakhtakor is approaching every match with maximum effort. The team and coach are determined to fight to the end for the championship.
