The World Championship among adults, taking place in Liverpool, England, has reached its final stage. In the heaviest category of the tournament, in the +90 kg weight category, our compatriot Jahongir Zokirov faced off against Oybek Oralbay from Kazakhstan.
The meeting was held in a spirit of high intensity and uncompromising struggle. Both athletes gave their all for victory, but in the final minutes, luck was on our opponent's side. The score was 3:2, and Jahongir Zakirov finished the world championship with a silver medal.
Thus, the major competition in Liverpool came to an end. The Uzbekistan national boxing team won a total of 6 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals at this world championship and took second place in the overall medal qualification.
The Kazakhstan national team took first place with 7 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals. This result became a bright page in the history of world boxing for both our neighbors and representatives of our country.
Also, at this championship, our national team once again demonstrated its strength in the world elite and proved that it is one of the main contenders for high results in future tournaments.
