Currently, the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, is hosting the amateur MMA (IMMAF) World Championship. Athletes from 63 countries around the world are competing for victory. This prestigious competition has attracted the attention of not only young people, but also the MMA community around the world.
Notably, young representatives from Uzbekistan are also making worthy contributions to the tournament. Although MMA has not been officially recognized in our country and the MMA Association of Uzbekistan has been established for a long time, significant results have been achieved in a short time.
It should be recalled that last year at the World Championship in Tashkent, the athletes of our country took an excellent part and won first place in the team competition. At that time, 843 athletes from 72 countries participated, and a total of 80 medals were awarded, 30 of which were awarded to the Uzbekistan national team. This indicator secured the Uzbekistan MMA team's place among the strongest in the world.
Our athletes, who have traversed a short five-year path in MMA with great historical results, are once again proving their strength on the world stage. Behind these achievements, of course, lies the tireless work of athletes, the effective training of coaches, and the serious attention paid to sports by our state.
The dedication of the association's officials and coaching staff in creating a healthy environment was also highly appreciated. As a clear example, the MMA Association of Uzbekistan was recently awarded the "Best Association of the Year" nomination.
Great milestones and many challenges lie ahead. However, I am confident that thanks to the coordinated work of the association and athletes, state support, and the trust of fans, Uzbek MMA will achieve many more historic victories in the coming years.
