The new head coach of the Uzbekistan national team, Fabio Cannavaro, answered journalists' questions in detail at today's press conference and shared his travel plans.
Cannavaro, emphasizing that Uzbekistan's qualification for the World Cup is a historic achievement, expressed regret that Italy has not yet qualified:
- Football is developing rapidly not only in Europe, but throughout the world, especially in Asia. Due to the rising level of Asian national teams, playing against Italy is not "impossible." "Attention to children's football here has increased, and infrastructure such as the National Football Center contributes to its systematic development," he said.
He also described himself as a "man" of football:
- I've been in football since I was eight, that's the only field I know. Over time, both the national team and I believe we will develop further.
The Italian specialist recalled that a month ago, when he arrived in Tashkent, he jokingly noted that he was ready to work:
- I visited here a month ago. At that time, I jokingly said that I was ready to work, and it happened. I observed the squad back then, and now I will evaluate it in detail in training sessions. Today we met with the players - some of them speak Italian. Coach-football player communication is the most important aspect. We spoke with Timur Kapadze about those summoned. I am in favor of having local specialists at the headquarters - this will greatly help to understand the mentality and culture faster. Therefore, I also asked Ravshan Ermatov for support in this matter.
Cannavaro said he regularly watches Super League matches:
- Seeing a football player on the field is the most objective criterion. Therefore, I will carefully analyze the domestic championship.
He also did not hide his intention to stay in Uzbekistan longer:
"I came with a lot of suitcases, even my bicycle." I love to be among people, there's a lot of passion. I also regularly monitor the youth and junior national teams - this is a strategic reserve for us.
At the end of the press conference, Cannavaro added that the main task facing the national team is to increase intensity and strengthen physical and tactical stability. The specialist also thanked the fans, who promised to work in harmony with kindness and determination: "Your trust is strength for us."
