Jump after Paris: Khabibullayev wins world title in new weight class

At the World Championship in Liverpool, To'rabek Habibullayev became one of the brightest heroes of the competition. Our boxer, who fought in the -80 kg category during the Paris-2024 cycle, rose to -90 kg in one year, showed himself in a new test, and won the championship crown. After the championship, he gave an impressive interview to the NOC press service.
"The toughest fight? - semi-final and final"
According to Khabibullayev, to be first in the world, each opponent will enter the ring with serious preparation. "In competitions of this level, no one enters the ring hoping to lose. Everyone fights with all their might. The semi-final and final in Liverpool were more difficult than in previous stages. But the clear instructions given by my coaches, adapting to the opponent, and the correct tactical plan led me to gold," the champion said. According to him, a sense of distance, proper pressure distribution, and economical movement in the final rounds were the key to victory.
Weight changes: natural decision and easy adjustment
After Paris, Turabek revised his work style: "Previously, I had to lose a lot of weight before competitions, which became more difficult over time. The teachers advised me to move to a higher category - I agreed. Since my natural weight was higher, I didn't experience any serious difficulties adapting to -90 kg." The athlete added that the protocols for physical training, nutrition, and recovery have been restructured, along with an increase in strength and endurance indicators.
Los Angeles-2028: Gold Goal Only
Khabibullayev's next roadmap is clear: "I intend to return from my second Olympics only with gold. This goal requires even more effort, especially working on speed and effective combinations." He said that he pays special attention to international training camps, high-speed sparring, and deepening the analysis of opponents.
Gratitude and next steps
The champion expressed special gratitude to the coaching staff, the medical and rehabilitation group, and the fans: "This victory is the result of teamwork. Every person who supports us has a share."
To'rabek Habibullayev's triumphant move in the new weight class once again demonstrated the power of order, discipline, and proper planning in the Uzbek boxing school. And now ahead - the Olympic Games and more ambitious goals.
