Football history in Africa has been enriched with another sensation — a new participant of the 2026 FIFA World Cup has been determined. For the first time in its history, Cape Verde has secured a place at the tournament, CAFonline reported.

The team topped its qualifying group, finishing ahead of Cameroon and Angola. In the decisive final round, the island nation confidently defeated Eswatini 3–0. This result took the team to a historic milestone — qualification for the World Cup.

With this result, Cape Verde finished first in the group with 23 points. Cameroon earned 19, and Angola finished with 12.
