Following the conclusion of the Neftchi vs. OKMK (1-0) match in the 25th round of the Super League, Olmaliq's head coach, Mirjalol Qosimov, participated in a press conference and shared his thoughts on the game.
According to Kasimov, although the team prepared seriously for this match, simple mistakes in the first half decided the outcome.
"Today, a beautiful atmosphere was created at the stadium, and the fans were active. Both the quality of the field and the conditions were excellent. The guys tried, but our mistake in the first half cost us dearly. Nevertheless, I'm pleased with my team's performance today - those who came to the stadium saw real football. Life goes on, now we are preparing for the next match. "I congratulate Neftchi on the victory," he said.
The coach also touched upon the number of fans in the stadium and praised the atmosphere:
"As I said, the atmosphere was great. Football is played for the fans. With this spirit, they gave the field new strength," Kasimov added.
Answering a question about the goalkeeper issue, he admitted that the problem in this area still persists:
"No, this problem has not yet been solved. We had to field four goalkeepers throughout the year. Due to some mistakes, we lost at least 10-12 points. If it weren't for them, we would be among the leaders today."
Speaking about the next match, the coach emphasized that it is his own game that matters, not who the opponent is:
"We will prepare for Nasaf at the same pace as we did for Neftchi. "Our main goal is to make our fans happy," he said.
Journalists also inquired about his opinion about Fabio Cannavaro. Kasimov reacted calmly and cautiously on this issue:
"I haven't followed the Russian press. The national team's management trusted Cannavaro - so the decision was made. There's still time to evaluate him. After the end of the world championship, it will be more correct to draw a conclusion based on the result. It's easy to talk from the sidelines, but making decisions as a head coach is a very responsible task."
As can be seen from Mirjalol Qosimov's words, although he acknowledges his team's unpleasant results this season, he hasn't been demoralized. According to the experienced coach, the main goal is to play strongly in the remaining matches and end the season in a good mood.
