The matches of the 3rd round of the Asian Champions League-2 have intensified again. This time, unexpected results were recorded in both groups - some teams celebrated their first victories, while others escaped defeat in the final minutes.
In Group A, Iranian champion Istiqlol Tehran defeated Jordan's Al Vihdat 2-0 at home. This victory was the Iranian club's first win in the competition. The score was opened at the very beginning of the game - in the 8th minute, Munir put his team ahead, and in the 44th minute, Asani scored, consolidating the advantage.
Notably, Uzbekistan national team defender Rustam Ashurmatov played the full 90 minutes for Istiqlol. He played confidently in the team's defense, leaving almost no chance for the opponent's forwards.
In the second match of the group, the leaders - "Al Wasl" of the UAE and "Muharraq" of Bahrain - will clash. Both teams have accumulated 6 points each in previous rounds, and this match could determine their group leadership.
At the same time, interesting events also occurred in Group B. In the fight in Qatar, Al Ahli (Doha) hosted Turkmenistan's Arkadag at their home ground. The first half of the match started successfully for the hosts - Mitrovic opened the scoring in the 41st minute, and Vlap doubled the lead in the 56th minute. However, the "Arkadag" team did not give up: Atayev reduced the score in the 79th minute, and in the 90+1st minute, Saparov's goal brought an important point to the Turkmen club.
This result became a turning point for "Arkadag" - the team fought until the last minute and showed its character.
As a reminder, in the first match of Group B, Andijan drew 0-0 against Bahrain's Al Khalidia.
Every point in the ACL-2 tournament is of great importance for now. Because every result in the group stage is crucial for qualifying for the playoffs.
