Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has expressed his opinion on the fight for the English Premier League title this season. According to the Spanish manager, despite recent losses, Liverpool remains one of the main rivals and favorites.
Today, City spoke about the team's condition and championship race ahead of the crucial match against Aston Villa in the next round of the EPL.
"I don't feel like Arsenal will lose a lot of points. They are playing very steadily. However, I think Liverpool, despite recent results, remains the main contender. They have a strong squad, an experienced coach, and a fighting spirit," Guardiola said.
The coach's words sparked a heated discussion among EPL fans. Because Liverpool couldn't win in the next four rounds and lost 2-3 against Brentford yesterday.
At the same time, Arsenal is expected to face Crystal Palace today. Currently, Mikel Arteta's team leads the tournament table with 19 points.
Guardiola's team, Manchester City, sits in third place with 16 points. The reigning champions, Liverpool, have dropped to 6th place with 15 points.
Guardiola assessed the situation optimistically and noted that there is still intrigue in the title race:
"The situation in the EPL can change every week. Each team can lose or gain a lot in a few half seasons. "The most important thing for us is to find our game and fight for victory in every match," he said.
According to football analysts, the fight for the championship will be even more intense this season. The current form and squad of Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool confirm these words.
