Eldor Shomurodov, who scored consecutive goals in the Turkish championship and became the main character of "Istanbul Bashakshehir," is causing great controversy. After this match against "Antalyaspor," where our compatriot scored a brace and secured a resounding 4-0 victory for his team, an unexpected scandal erupted in the country's football scene.
As is known, Eldor opened the scoring in the 22nd minute and scored again towards the end of the match. However, Antalyaspor head coach Erol Bulut's statement sparked strong discontent at Bashakshehir.
At a press conference, Erol Bulut claimed that someone from his team had transmitted "internal information" to "Bashakshehir." He believes this is precisely what led to Antalyaspor's heavy defeat. These words were taken seriously by the opposing team and its coaching staff.
The Bashakshehir club officially denied this and openly stated its position:
"We always prioritize fair play and the reputation of Turkish football. Our head coach, Nuri Shaxin, and the team members have focused all their attention solely on work and wrestling on the field. They did not receive any confidential information about the opponent. All teams are responsible for making statements that do not tarnish the honor of Turkish football," the club's statement said.
Coach Nuri Shakhin also personally commented:
" Throughout my career, I have never acted contrary to the spirit of sports. We work every day and attribute the results only to this. Unfortunately, sometimes we encounter such unfounded statements. This is an unpleasant situation for us," he said in an interview with journalists.
As a reminder, Eldor Shomurodov joined Istanbul Bashakshehir on a one-season loan from Roma during the summer transfer window. His lease agreement also provides for the right of subsequent full transfer.
Currently, Shomurodov plays as the club's main striker and has recorded seven goals and one assist in 11 matches in the Turkish Super League. He is among the top scorers and has become an important figure for Bashakshehir.
