
Russian forward and captain of National Hockey League club Washington Alexander Ovechkin set an NHL record with 900 goals.
The hockey player scored a historic goal in the 18th minute of the game against the St. Louis Blues. The game ended 6-1 in favor of the Washington Capitals.
On April 6, Ovechkin repeated Wayne Gretzky's 26-year NHL record. The Canadian hockey player scored 894 goals in his 1487th game in March 1999. The Russian footballer needed so many matches to break the record.
Ovechkin began his NHL career in 2005. He is currently playing for the Washington Capitals for his 20th season.
