Gattuso: Those Expecting an 11–1 Result Are Mistaken
Italy's national team coach Gennaro Gattuso gave an interview following a hard-fought victory against Moldova. During the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification match on Thursday, the "Azzurri" defeated Moldova 2-0.
The first goal was scored in the 88th minute, while the second one came in the 92nd minute. "Do you think it was a bad match?
What does that mean? The team completely dominated; we did not allow the opponent a single shot on goal.
If you were expecting a game like Moldova's 1-11 loss to Norway, that's your issue. There are no easy games in football.
We made a complete overhaul of the lineup, and I felt we could lose due to the many changes. I bow my head to the players," Gattuso said in an interview with RAI Sport.
On November 16, Italy will face Norway in the final round of the qualification stage.
