Ronaldo faces the risk of being suspended for two or three matches. The outcome depends on how FIFA's disciplinary committee evaluates his elbowing action.
If the suspension exceeds one match and Portugal secures a direct qualification to the World Cup without going through the playoffs in March, Cristiano could miss several matches at the start of the 2026 World Cup. Meanwhile, FIFA representatives declined to disclose on Friday when the final decision regarding Ronaldo’s case will be announced.
