The 1/16 finals of the World Junior Championship were as intense and emotional as the fans expected. The Uzbekistan U-17 national team, under the leadership of Islombek Ismailov, demonstrated great skill and willpower in the crucial match against Croatia. The main time ended with a score of 1:1, but when the most exciting moment came - the penalty shootout, our youth overcame the psychological pressure and won with a score of 3:4.
This victory was not only a result, but also a clear demonstration of the team's work on self-improvement, tactical growth, and readiness for major competitions. Now our team will play against the Italian youth team in the next stage - this will be another serious test.
The statistical indicators recorded at the meeting also prove how intense the match was. Croatia had an advantage in ball control - 54% versus 46%. However, it is not for nothing that it is said: control is not always an advantage. Uzbekistan's quick attacks and high-performance shots are among the key factors in the game.
Looking at the strikes statistics:
Croatia scored 13 shots, while Uzbekistan created 12 chances. The most important thing is the number of accurate shots: Croatia found the net 5 times, while our national team scored 7 accurate shots. This indicator reflects the activity and effectiveness of attacks during the game.
As for passes and moves, the opponent dominated.
Croatia made 401 passes, while Uzbekistan made 346 passes. Even in accurate passes, the opponent dominated - 339 versus 266. However, the most significant impact on the result was Uzbekistan's ability to create high-risk situations despite performing fewer passes in the third zone.
The opponent's advantage in duels was significant - 60% to 40%.
But even in such conditions, our team effectively used the opportunities, did not fear pressure, and fought equally with them for every victory.
Other indicators:
- Contactless interception: 5 - 5
- Follar: 7 - 14
- Corner kicks: 2 - 5
- Free kicks: 14 - 7
Yellow cards: 2 - 2
These figures show how active and decisive Uzbekistan was during the game. Especially the number of angular beats is one of the manifestations of this pressure.
The most important thing is the result of the match. The calmness in the penalty shootout, the guys' self-confidence, and their serious attitude towards the competition led them to the next stage. Now we face an even more difficult opponent - Italy. In this match, every detail, every mistake is of great importance.
In today's match, the Uzbekistan U-17 national team once again proved one truth: with willpower, hard work, and the people's blessing, any pressure can be overcome.
