Mane Explains Why He Did Not Join Manchester United

Former Liverpool footballer, currently playing for Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr, Sadio Mane recalled a time when he could have moved to Manchester United. The Senegalese footballer revealed that he almost joined the "Red Devils" prior to moving from Southampton to Liverpool, but the transfer did not materialize.

"I received a call from Manchester United and spoke with Louis van Gaal. The team had Rooney, Di Maria, and Depay.

After failing to sign me, they purchased Martial. I asked them, 'With Rooney, Depay, Di Maria, and Van Persie already in the squad, where would I play?' It was important for me to have regular playing time," the 33-year-old footballer told The Touchline in an interview.
