The "FIFA Series" project, aimed at strengthening global cooperation in the world of football, has entered a new stage. It is gratifying that Uzbekistan has once again been recognized as one of the main hosts of this initiative. This is perceived as a sign of great confidence in the development of both the national team and the football environment.
FIFA officially announced that the first round of the "FIFA Series" tournament in full format will be held in March and April 2026 as part of the international games window. This time, the project will be presented in an expanded format: for the first time, a separate direction is being introduced for women's football.
Following the success of the pilot phase in March 2024, FIFA decided to implement the project on a larger scale. The main idea of the initiative is to bring national teams from different continents out of the traditional confederation and call for competition and dialogue with each other. In conclusion, creating a unique platform that brings countries of the world closer together through football.
According to the FIFA statement, the "FIFA Series" is aimed at enriching the experience of players and coaches, sharing new impressions with fans, while promoting the universal and diverse nature of football. The 2026 format will further expand this impact: both areas - men's and women's football - will have the opportunity to develop simultaneously.
The men's competition will be hosted by Australia, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Mauritius, Puerto Rico, Rwanda, and, of course, Uzbekistan. The women's football division starts in Brazil, Côte d'Ivoire, and Thailand. It was noted that a number of other countries have also expressed interest in hosting.
Considering the significant development of football infrastructure, fan culture, and organizational capacity in Uzbekistan in recent years, FIFA's confidence is fully justified. This competition will help our national team to appear more active on the international stage, test their strength against new opponents, and present fans with a unique football holiday.
Another opportunity has opened up for Uzbek football - now all that remains is to properly evaluate and accept it at a high level.
