John Terry joined Chelsea's youth team in 1995 and defended the club's honor until 2017. At one point, he was close to moving to Manchester City.
The former captain recalled that moment. "In 2009-2010, during Carlo Ancelotti's tenure as Chelsea manager, Manchester City approached me with a £29 million offer.
When Chelsea started discussing it, I immediately said: 'I don’t want to leave. If you want to sell me, we need to discuss this because I don’t want to stay if you don’t want me here.'
Then Roman [Abramovich] said to me: 'We want you. We want you to stay in the team.'
I replied: 'I want to stay 100 percent, so let’s sign a new contract.' Finally, I signed a new contract and dedicated almost my entire career to Chelsea.
At the age of 29, I signed a five-year contract. It was the best decision of my life," Terry recalled.
Currently, Chelsea holds third place in the Premier League standings. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
