Russian National Team May Play Against Madagascar

The Russian national football team may play a match against the Madagascar national team in 2026. According to a representative of the Madagascar Football Federation in a statement to Sport24, such a match could take place next year, but it depends on the proposal from the Russian side.

"In March, the Madagascar national team will participate in the Africa Cup of Nations qualification matches, and in June, the team will be ready for games," the federation representative stated. It is worth noting that the Russian national team has not participated in official matches since 2022.

In 2025, the team, led by Valery Karpin, played 10 matches, including a 0-2 loss to the Chilean national team. The Madagascar national team is a member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and is ranked 105th in the FIFA rankings.
