Perez exposes Barcelona for bribery, 8 million euros paid over 17 years

Peres exposes "Barca": €8 million in bribes over 17 years
The "Santiago Bernabeu" stadium in Madrid has witnessed many historic events, but the club president accusing rivals of corruption and presenting statistics to the public during a meeting marks a new chapter for Spanish football. Florentino Perez directed sharp criticisms at "Barcelona," UEFA, Spanish referees, and La Liga president Javier Tebas.

According to Perez, "Barcelona" transferred over €8 million to the account of Enriquez Negreira, the vice president of the referees’ committee, over 17 years. During this period, "Barcelona" achieved its best results in Spanish football.

Perez also presented statistics from La Liga: "Barcelona" opponents received 61 red cards, while "Real Madrid" faced a negative statistic in this regard. He does not consider this a coincidence.

Perez did not limit his criticisms to "Barcelona" alone. He referred to Javier Tebas's initiatives, such as holding La Liga matches in the United States, occupying multiple positions in the league and federation, and the agreement with the CVC investment fund, as "absurd."

He accused UEFA of controlling clubs' destinies and imposing tournament formats. The climax of the meeting was his critique of referees linked to Negreira, who remain active in their roles.

Perez’s remarks faced criticism from former president Ramon Calderon. Calderon reminded that the "Bernabeu" reconstruction budget had surged from €575 million to €1.347 billion and questioned the club's financial strategy.

According to Perez, "Real Madrid" is the only club in Europe capable of overcoming such challenges. However, his remarks appear as an effort to portray "Real Madrid" as a lone fighter against the system.

This system, however, has allowed the Madrid club to win numerous trophies. The issues raised by Perez during the meeting have become a topic of widespread discussion.

Nonetheless, his primary goal might be paving the way for new investors or initiatives like "Super League 2.0."
