Belgian club Brugge's head coach Niki Hayen shared his thoughts on the result of the UEFA Champions League Matchday 5 game against Lisbon's Sporting. The Portuguese team secured a 3–0 victory.
"We knew it was going to be a tough match, and we understood that we would have to endure some difficult moments. However, in the second half, we returned to the field with high pressing and active movement.
This was actually our plan for the first half as well, but we couldn't implement it successfully. We made mistakes, which gave Sporting the opportunity to score two easy goals.
We left too much open space for the opponent, which is something we need to work on," Hayen told the publication O Jogo. "What is the condition of the goalkeeper after his collision with Blopa?
He was taken to the hospital for examination. He suffered a strong blow to the chest, and in the initial moments, his condition was not good."
The collision occurred in the final seconds of the game. Blopa, attempting to score a fourth goal, apologized for the incident and emphasized that there was no malicious intent.
After this game, Sporting is in 8th place with 10 points, while Brugge is sitting in 26th place with 4 points accumulated. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
