Svishchyov Says Trump Has No Connection to Football

State Duma Deputy Dmitry Svishchyov expressed his reaction to FIFA awarding a special peace prize to former United States President Donald Trump. The decision surprised Svishchyov.

"I read this news with astonishment. It's a strange decision.

Especially considering Trump has no connection to football. If the golf federation had given him some kind of award, it would have been understandable because he likes golf," the deputy said in a statement to the "Sovetskiy Sport" publication.

Additionally, Svishchyov speculated that the award might be part of some agreements and could eventually serve the benefit of football. It is known that the 2026 World Cup, with participation from 48 national teams, will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
