In the 15th round of the EPL, Arsenal lost 1-2 away to Aston Villa. Following the match, Chelsea head coach Mikel Arteta commented on the game and openly cited the reasons for the defeat.
Arteta first congratulated the opponent on a worthy performance:
"I'm very upset that we lost this match, but first of all, I congratulate Aston Villa - today they showed a strong and teamful game. There were some difficulties in the first half. Especially when gaining possession, we suffered unexpected losses. I can recall the violation of the rules in the situation with Watkins, and the rest are very small details."
The specialist also expressed satisfaction with the game in the second half:
"We started the second half very actively. We created chances, scored a goal and equalized the score. At that moment, we felt a sense of victory. The opponent made two dangerous individual mistakes - in these episodes they could have lost. But luck was on their side. However, we couldn't convert the clear scoring opportunities we created into goals."
As is known, after this defeat, Arsenal retained 33 points, and the gap with second-placed Manchester City was reduced to only 2 points. The championship race became even more intense.
