Wayne Rooney Names Top Premier League Title Contender

Former England national team footballer Wayne Rooney shared his thoughts on the main contender for the Premier League title. Speaking on the BBC Podcast, Rooney said, «I think the favorite for the win is Arsenal.»

However, he added, “It will be interesting to see how strongly Manchester City can compete with the Gunners. But this is mostly dependent on Arsenal itself: they have led before and then lost their advantage,” he said.

After 16 rounds, Arsenal leads the league table with 36 points. The gap between them and second-placed Manchester City is just two points.

The top three is completed by Aston Villa, which has collected 33 points. Earlier, Rooney also mentioned that he does not believe Aston Villa could become champions.
