The Suriname national football team still has a chance to qualify for the World Cup, but they will need to pass through the playoff stage. This could be the first time in history that the Surinamese team participates in the world's biggest football tournament, though there is also the possibility that they might lose this opportunity.
The reason lies in sanctions imposed by FIFA, which has identified significant issues within the Suriname Football Federation’s operations. In particular, there are substantial concerns regarding violations during the election process of the federation's leadership.
Additionally, there are other objections related to financial matters. Suriname has until March to resolve the situation.
If not addressed, the team could be disqualified from the tournament. Should the Suriname national team advance to the playoffs, they will first face Bolivia in Mexico.
If victorious, they will then compete against Iraq in the next stage. Read “Zamin” on Telegram!
