Chanov Says Safonov Contributed to Donnarumma's Award

The former goalkeeping coach of CSKA Moscow, Vyacheslav Chanov, shared his thoughts on Gianluigi Donnarumma receiving FIFA’s Best Goalkeeper of the Year award. The Italian goalkeeper, who played for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) last season, was honored with this prestigious recognition.

According to Chanov, internal competition within the team is a constant factor that can influence performance. He believes that competition among goalkeepers may have helped Donnarumma perform at a high level throughout the season and contributed to winning trophies.

The expert also highlighted that Matvei Safonov may have played a role in this process. The Russian goalkeeper appeared in 17 matches for PSG last season, mainly in cup competitions and some other tournament fixtures.

By the end of the season, the Paris club secured all possible trophies, except for the FIFA Club World Cup.
