
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) highly praised Matvey Safonov's performance in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final, particularly his role in the penalty shootouts. The Parisian club emphasized the Russian goalkeeper's decisive contribution to securing the trophy.
The club’s press service reported that Safonov delivered an outstanding performance during the penalty shootout, saving at least four shots and essentially presenting the trophy to the "Red and Blues" on a "silver platter." Safonov managed to stop four consecutive penalty shots from the opposing players.
Following this, he embraced the team’s head coach, Luis Enrique. Earlier, Vladislav Radimov and Roman Berezovskiy had acknowledged Safonov's meticulous preparation and attention to detail for the penalty shootout.
