Aleksandr Gleb Safonov Named PSG's First-Choice Goalkeeper

Former "Barcelona" footballer Aleksandr Hleb highly praised PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov's performance in the Intercontinental Cup final against "Flamengo." It was noted that during the post-match penalty shootout, the Russian goalkeeper saved four shots.

Hleb described this achievement as a major success for Safonov and specifically highlighted his skill. According to the former midfielder, Matvey has already proven himself as a top-tier goalkeeper.

Safonov is an excellent goalkeeper. Winning six trophies with PSG in two years is a commendable result,” the publication “Sovetskiy Sport” quoted Hleb as saying.

At the same time, he mentioned that it is not right to consider Safonov as a backup goalkeeper. Hleb emphasized that Safonov’s level fully qualifies him to be the first-choice goalkeeper at one of Europe’s strongest clubs.
