Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes spoke openly about the possibility of leaving the club. The Portuguese midfielder revealed that during his career, he received two clear offers to leave the team, but in both instances, the Red Devils' management decided to keep him at the club.
— When I first came to this club, I liked everything about it. I love Manchester United wholeheartedly and have always tried to prove my loyalty, even during the most challenging times. To be honest, there were two opportunities to leave. But the club said: “You are still very important to us,” and asked me to stay. I responded, “I will give back everything you expect from me,” — said Fernandes.
Bruno emphasized that his sole goal upon joining United was to win trophies. Although the results have not always been at the level some fans expected, the midfielder fully acknowledges his responsibility.
— Perhaps we have won fewer trophies, and maybe we should have achieved more victories. But I am giving my all for this team. At the same time, I have no intention of undermining the efforts of my teammates. We are all working towards the same goal, — he added.
The midfielder also openly spoke about why he remains at Old Trafford. According to him, the main reason is his belief in winning trophies in the future.
— It is precisely this belief that keeps me here. If the club management had said, “We don’t need you,” or if trophies were not part of our ambitions, I would have left. But I want Manchester United to return to its former glory. That’s the dream I came here with, and I want to help make it a reality, — said Bruno Fernandes.
Fans believe such statements once again prove how important the captain is to United, not just on the pitch but also mentally and emotionally for the team.
