Kivu Lautaro Explains Why He Did Not Start

Inter Milan head coach Cristian Chivu explained why striker Lautaro Martinez did not start in the Italian Super Cup semifinal against Bologna. The coach emphasized that a rotation strategy was essential given the team's demanding schedule.

"This was our eighth game in the past 20 days, and Lautaro played in all of them. He needs rest as well.

In January, we will be playing every three days, and it is crucial to approach games with full energy," Chivu's statement was quoted by the Nerazzurri's press service. The coach also added that this was the reason why Manuel Akanji and Hakan Calhanoglu did not start the game from the first minute.

Additionally, he requested that his comments not be interpreted as complaints. The match ended in Inter's defeat after a penalty shootout.
