In the French Cup 1/32 finals, Marseille secured a dominant 6–0 victory against Bourg-en-Bresse in an away match. The second goal of the game was scored by Mason Greenwood.
For the English forward, this goal marked his 26th in 2025. This achievement represents the second-highest number of goals scored in a calendar year in the history of the Provençal club.
The only footballer who has scored more goals in a single year was Florian Thauvin, who netted 30 goals in 2018. Greenwood has now surpassed André-Pierre Gignac's 2014 record, when the French striker scored 24 goals.
Marseille has won the French Cup 10 times, although their last victory dates back to 1989. In the Ligue 1 standings, the team is currently sitting in third place.
