Former Colombian footballer Freddy Guarín, who played for Italy's Inter Milan, reflected on the challenging periods of his life. Guarín stated that he felt good during his time at Inter, but problems began after his divorce from his wife.
After the separation, he succumbed to alcoholism. Later, he signed a contract in China, but his mental health deteriorated further, as he was deeply distressed about being away from his family and constantly worried about their well-being.
During the interview, he also mentioned frequently clashing with his parents, revealing that his father was often intoxicated. Guarín disclosed that during that period, he contemplated suicide and attempted it three times, yet survived each time.
His statements were reported by Corriere della Sera. Freddy Guarín retired from professional football in 2021.
