Barcelona has prepared a plan to strengthen their central defense during the winter transfer window. The team's management aimed to solve the problems that arose in the center of defense at the expense of a relatively inexpensive but experienced player. This was reported by Mundo Deportivo, one of Spain's influential publications.
According to the source, the Blaugrana are primarily focusing on players with leadership qualities and extensive playing experience who can keep the team in balance in the transfer market. The club wants to fill the gap left by Inigo Martinez, who left the team last summer.
So far, three central defenders have been added to Barcelona's potential list. Among them are Nicolas Otamendi, one of the captains of Portuguese club Benfica and World Cup winner (37 years old), Stefan de Vrij, who plays for Inter Milan (33 years old), and Marcos Senezi of Argentina (28 years old), who plays for Bournemouth in the English Premier League.
According to Transfermarkt, Otamendi is considered the cheapest option - its market value is approximately 1 million euros. De Vrij is valued at around €3.5 million, while Senesi's transfer value, considered relatively younger and more promising, could reach up to €22 million.
For the Catalan club, this decision is being made based on financial resources and the team's current needs. Therefore, Barcelona fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the experienced midfielder in the defense center in the coming weeks.
