Safonov evaluated the level of Russia's opponents in 2025
Russia's national team goalkeeper Matvey Safonov shared his thoughts on the national team's friendly matches during the concluding year. "It seemed to me that the level of opposition in these games was very good.

Some matches were quite challenging," the goalkeeper said in the national team's New Year video. Since February 2022, the Russian national team has been suspended from participating in international tournaments by a joint decision of FIFA and UEFA.

As a result, the national team can only play friendly matches. In their latest sparring, Valery Karpin's squad suffered a 2-0 defeat against Chile.
