Real Madrid is still considering the possibility of head coach Xabi Alonso resigning from his post. According to ESPN, the Spanish specialist could be replaced by Alvaro Arbeloa, the coach of the club's youth team.
The club plans to appoint Arbeloa as interim head coach until the end of the season and sign a contract with a new coach over the summer. Alonso's future depends on the results of the Spanish Super Cup.
On January 8, Real Madrid will face Atletico in the semifinals. In the current La Liga season, the Madrid club holds second place, four points behind Barcelona.
