Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has provided an update on the search for a new coach to replace Alvaro Arbeloa. The club chief confirmed that two main candidates are currently being considered. In an interview with Television Espanola, Perez stated that the club is preparing for a new phase and that a decision is imminent. This is reported by Goal.com .
During the conversation, the question of a potential return of Jose Mourinho to the Santiago Bernabeu was also addressed. While Perez emphasized his high regard for the Portuguese tactician, he clarified that no official negotiations have taken place yet. "I am thinking about it. Are there candidates? Yes, two. Mourinho is undoubtedly a good coach, but I am not announcing anything yet because I have not spoken to him," the president said.
Florentino Perez also sharply criticized his rival in the presidential election, Enrique Riquelme. Positioning himself as the person protecting the club from instability, he compared his opponents to the negative atmosphere of the Ramon Calderon era. According to Perez, he called for elections because he sensed attempts to destabilize the club from within.
The president also expressed doubts about Riquelme's financial situation. He noted that his rival had taken out a loan at a 54 percent annual interest rate, warning that such a person might use the club for personal gain. The elections for the Real Madrid presidency are scheduled for June 7.
