Former Zenit Saint Petersburg striker Andrey Arshavin commented on FIFA’s decision to review the authorship of the goal in the 2–2 match against Germany and credit it to Aleksandr Kerzhakov. This was reported by euro-football.rureports.
According to Arshavin, he still believes he was the one who scored in that episode. “Whatever decision UEFA or FIFA made is their business. Apparently, we’ll have to call up both Kerzha and Dzyuba to the national team; we could even play them together in one match,” he said on Fonbet’s YouTube channel.
If the Russian Football Union officially registers the goal under Kerzhakov’s name, Aleksandr will draw level with Artem Dzyuba, the national team’s all-time top scorer. Then both forwards will have 31 goals for the national team.
