Former Arsenal midfielder Jermaine Pennant shared his thoughts on striker Viktor Gyokeres’ performances. The Swedish footballer joined the Gunners in 2025 and was signed from Lisbon’s Sporting for €65.8 million. This was reported by euro-football.rureports.
According to Pennant, it’s not right to expect Gyokeres to match the same prolific scoring run he had in Portugal. “This is the EPL, not the Portuguese league. Darwin Nunez scored more than 30 goals at Benfica, but after moving to Liverpool he couldn’t replicate those numbers. Still, I rate his performances for Liverpool,” Pennant was quoted as saying by The Mirror.
For reference, Nunez has scored 40 goals in 126 appearances for Liverpool. Gyokeres, meanwhile, has scored 7 goals in 20 games for Arsenal.
