Sunderland head coach Régis Le Bris shared his views on the Black Cats’ style of play and the differences between two top teams after a 0–0 draw with City in Matchweek 19 of the Premier League.
According to Le Bris, the main difference between Arsenal’s and Manchester City’s playing styles stems from positional and tactical contrasts. Arsenal’s approach through the middle is more independent and quicker. Their game is usually composed and direct. City, under Guardiola, still has its core identity, but, Le Bris noted, their play is not as consistent as it used to be.
“Arteta is also a Spanish coach, but the differences in their tactics are significant,” he said. In Le Bris’ view, City’s edge reflects Guardiola’s experience and personality, while Arsenal’s actions are more driven by overall tactical benefit.
Sunderland are also in 7th place in the Premier League table, and both the team and the coach continue working toward the results they need.
