Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Dino Toppmoller spoke to journalists ahead of the match against Borussia Dortmund and commented on the team’s condition. The Bundesliga Round 16 game kicks off on January 9 at 00:30 (Tashkent time). This was reported by euro-football.ru reports .
According to the coach, Fares Chaibi is still at the Africa Cup of Nations, while Ellyes Skhiri will return to the squad on Monday. Jonathan Burkardt, Michy Batshuayi and Timothy Chandler are out injured, and Jean-Matteo Bahoya is not in the squad due to illness.
The rest of the players are training and the mood is good. Toppmoller noted that the break was short but sufficient to recover: “The batteries are fully recharged, everyone is ready to fight again.”
The coach also spoke about the opponent: in his view, under Niko Kovac Dortmund look much more solid defensively and are showing a very hard-working style. “It’s not the first time we’ve faced them this season. We still have a score to settle from the cup tie — at the very least, we went toe-to-toe in that match. I’m expecting a serious battle; we must be ready from the start and deliver a strong performance,” he said.
Eintracht are currently 7th with 25 points, while Borussia Dortmund are 2nd with 32 points.
