Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta shared his thoughts on the 4–1 away win over Portsmouth in the third round of the FA Cup. Despite conceding an early goal, the visitors eventually secured a convincing victory.
As Arteta noted, they expected strong resistance from the opposition, so the team had to find solutions in tight moments. “That’s the beauty of this competition — the margins are very small, especially if you give the opponent a chance to score first. We were much better in the second half, we reacted and did what we had to do,” the coach told TNT Sports.
Arteta also stressed that rotation and changes to the lineup had a positive impact on the team’s mood. In his view, it’s not only about the result: giving different players opportunities improved the team’s stability and efficiency.
It is worth noting that Arsenal are currently maintaining top spot in the Premier League, and the club’s wins are further boosting fans’ optimism.
