Michael Carrick: “We want to climb higher, step by step”

Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick spoke about the tasks set for the team for the remainder of the season. The specialist noted that while the club’s management has not handed down a “strictly fixed” list of demands, the team’s own goals are very clear.
Asked by journalists, “Are there any specific instructions from the board?”, Carrick replied briefly and to the point:
— No. But we want to move closer to the top of the table, even be right at the very top. That’s a very clear objective. But to get there, we have to move forward step by step. Qualifying for European competitions would also be a good step forward. Most importantly, we must not stop moving, — Carrick said.
In other words, United have one plan right now: stabilise their performances, collect points and show improvement every week. Because big goals are reached not through big statements, but through the work done week after week.
As a reminder, tomorrow Manchester United will host Manchester City, managed by Josep Guardiola. The Manchester derby kicks off at 17:30 Tashkent time. This match is expected to be one of the most intriguing tests of how Carrick’s words translate into action.
