Saudi League targets stars after Ronaldo

The Saudi Pro League is heading out on another big “hunt.” This time it’s not just about 1–2 famous players — reports say nearly 50 star footballers currently playing in Europe are being considered on the shortlist.
According to sources close to TalkSport and insider Ben Jacobs, key targets include Mohamed Salah, Bruno Fernandes, Vinicius, Robert Lewandowski and Casemiro. In other words, the Saudi league isn’t coming for a “trend” — it’s coming for real super-brands.
There’s a clear logic behind the plan. Saudis don’t want interest around the league to drop in 2027 amid Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure (or retirement). Simply put, even if Ronaldo leaves, stadiums and broadcasts shouldn’t switch to “silent mode.”
At the same time, another intriguing option is reportedly on the table: involving Cristiano more actively as a club co-founder by increasing his stake in Al Nassr. So there may be less Ronaldo on the pitch and more Ronaldo in the boardroom — a “pro life hack” to keep the brand strong.
One conclusion: the Saudi league is seriously preparing for the next era. Now the only question is which stars will say “yes” to the call. For fans, the intrigue is set: this summer transfer window could be even more exciting than usual.
